Out of the Blue

‘Out of the Blue’ is a campaign created with the aim to increase Horniman Museum Library visitors. It invites them in to interact with the display of the unique collection of books ‘Cyanotype Impressions’, by one of the world’s first women photographers - Anna Atkins.

I created a series of three posters, that have the ability to turn into leaflets, each one representing a study area of the Library. These were used as a promotional device and ‘call to action’.

 The leaflets are perforated into a nine square grid that acts as folding points. The visitor can pick these up from anywhere in the museum and it is used as an invitation to the Library’s event.  Once there, they can tear up the leaflet and participate in building a grid-based mural to create a big cyanotype picture, which they are invited to share.  This format could have an easy transition into social media platforms such as instagram, creating a campaign that can reach and engage many outside existing museum visitors.
